The Comedy Central cartoon South Park has been known for making fun of celebrities and pretty much everyone else. The show's creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, have recently poked fun at Scientology, the religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard and promoted heavily by celebrities like Tom Cruise and John Travolta. South Park's Trapped in the Closet episode makes fun of Tom Cruise's religious beliefs and his long time speculated homosexuality.
 The episode features celebrities like John Travolta, Nicole Kidman, and R. Kelly attempting to coax a fictional Tom Cruise character (left) out of a closet, with Kidman saying: "Don't you think this has gone on long enough? It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling anyone." Trapped in the closet is the chorus from the R. Kelly song that gained widespread popularity last year.
According to Hollywood.com, Tom Cruise threatened to boycott promotional events for Mission: Impossible 3, a movie owned by Paramount. Viacom, parent company of Comedy Central. In response, Comedy Central decided to ban reruns of the episode in the US and ban it from ever being aired in the UK. A spokesperson for Tom Cruise denies that Tom ever had anything to do with the episode being banned.
This is contrary to reports from a Hollywood insider, "Tom is famously very litigious and will go to great lengths to protect his reputation. Tom was said not to like the episode and Paramount just didn't dare risk showing it again. It's a shame that UK audiences will never see it because it's very funny."
