Default The Political Mascot of ER - Parminder Nagra (Dr. Neela Rasgotra)

If you watch the long running TV show ER on a regular basis, I'm sure you've noticed the obvious political agenda being pushed by NBC and the show's writers. Their new political mascot is actress Parminder Nagra who plays Dr. Neela Rasgotra on the show. You might remember Nagra from the movie Bend It Like Beckham (2002), which launched her acting career.

Nagra was born in England to parents who emigrated from India to the UK in the 1960s. Her skin color made her all the more important choice for a recent storyline put forth by ER's writers. In recent episodes, Neela has attempted to deal with her husband Michael's (Sharif Atkins) choice to reenlist as a doctor in the US Army. When Michael goes back to Iraq Neela finds herself attending a military wives support group. At one of the group meetings she speaks her mind about the War in Iraq, trying to emphasize that it is a bogus war. The group of wives (actors) look at her speechless, unable to refute her claims about the war. They just stare in disbelief at Neela, who seems to have uttered forbidden words that no one is ever supposed to say. And OMG, look at the color of Neela's skin. How could she be saying such things when she comes from over there. OMG. OMG. OMG.

Let me just say here that the wife of my best friend, who was a medic in Iraq, would have never kept silent for such comments, nor would any other military wife. My friend's wife would have voiced her own opinion about her husband's efforts to liberate Iraq. She would have enlightened someone like Neela to the positive developments that have taken place in Iraq. But that's the side of the story that Hollywood and the secular media don't want you to hear. They don't want you to even think that there is anything positive about the War in Iraq. They just want you to believe that what you see on shows like ER is the truth.

This is a continuing storyline on ER and it will be interesting to see where it goes. Last week, the character of Neela was tempted to cheat on her husband-at-war with her roommate, Dr. Barnett (Shane West). With any other ER storyline this would have been a sure thing, but instead Neela controlled herself and decided it was best to move out. Remember, NBC can't tarnish one of it's political mascots.

In an earlier episode, Parminder Nagra's ER character Neela helped a teenage girl secretly abort an unwanted pregnancy, because her extremely religious parents wouldn't be able to ever forgive her for birthing a child out of wedlock. Of course, the parents were Catholics, and like myself and all other individuals with a Catholic background that I know, forgiveness is not an option. No, forgiveness isn't mentioned at all in the Catholic religion. So, you better forget about Islam and other religions, because Catholics are the narrow-minded extremists. Hollywood. What else is there to say.
